About John Hall - Author / Consultant Based in
Cambridge, UK John Hall has been a senior manager in corporate services functions for a major part of his career;The other part being a consultant. A graduate from Imperial College, he started his career in research and development, where through training activities and recruitment activities he morphed into more of an HR career. Following a postgraduate management qualification he became head of HR at Ciba Geigy Agriculture for 16 years before widening his career to include related functions and significant organisation development activity. He has worked for leading multinationals, parts of the public sector, Trade Organisations, and professional services organisations. He has also been a consultant to the Institute of Management, and Director of the Centre for Leadership. As a consultant and conference speaker he specialises in organisational design, purposeful organisations, customer focus, employee engagement and management development. He has helped a number of organisations move to a better climate for performance and achieve external recognition for their progress. He also undertakes interim projects in organisational development or significant HR change where there might be particularly interesting challenges. He is especially interested in management effectiveness and how managers can best use their time to gain more commitment and performance from their people. He has devised a number of new management methods and has earlier written two other commissioned books 'Releasing potential in the right direction' and 'Practical Leadership Guide' He lives in a village outside Cambridge, and has an interest in watching rugby, inefficient swimming, and slow cycling, although not at the same time - now there is a thought!!!
